Apple Sailboats

If you're looking for an easy, kid-friendly snack like Dragon Tails, Worms in Dirt, and Apple Slice "Donuts", how about making adorable apple sailboats?

There's more to assemble, but that makes this snack like a fun craft as well. So, if your kiddos are getting hungry, maybe you can give this fun activity/snack a try!

APPLE SAILBOATS

INGREDIENTS:

Apple
Pretzel sticks
Triangle cheese slices
Honey (don't feed honey to children under the age of 1)
Teddy Grahams
Cheerios

DIRECTIONS:

Peel an apple and cut it into wedges.
Using a toothpick, poke an off-centered hole on the non-rounded side of a pretzel wedge.
Shove a pretzel stick into the hole and then stick a piece of cheese onto the pretzel, making a "sail".
Put a cheerio on one side of the apple wedge and a Teddy Graham against the sail, using the honey as "glue" to keep them in place.
Repeat steps 2 through 4 with the remaining wedges.

Recipe adapted from Snack Works. (I think the sailboat in the photo was made from a recipe on a Teddy Grahams box, but the one of Snack Works seems like the same one.)

Apple Slice "Donuts"

Like the Dragon Tails and Worms in Dirt, this is a quick, easy and fun recipe that kids just might love!

APPLE SLICE "DONUTS"

INGREDIENTS:

An apple
Nutella and/or peanut butter
Sprinkles, optional

DIRECTIONS:

Slice the apple horizontally. Then, take a small cookie cutter and cut out the core from each of the pieces (see the picture below). If you don't have a small cookie cutter, try using an apple corer or cutting out the core with a knife before slicing the apple.
Pipe the Nutella and/or peanut butter onto each of the apple slices using a piping bag or a plastic baggy.
If you want the apple slices to look more like donuts, put some sprinkles on top.

Worms in Dirt

Today, I want to share another kid-friendly recipe! Like the Dragon Tails, some kids will love both making and eating this dessert.

When I was a little, I didn't like most bugs. (Well, I still don't.) Some of the exceptions, however, were lady bugs and worms.

I loved when my mom would cover pudding with crushed Oreos and gummy worms. It seemed so cool!

WORMS IN DIRT

INGREDIENTS:

1 container of chocolate pudding*
A few Oreos (regular or mini)
1 - 2 gummy worms

DIRECTIONS:

Open the container of pudding.*
Put a few Oreos in a plastic bag and seal it. With a rolling pin, crush the Oreos until the pieces are small and fine.
Stick the gummy worm(s) into the pudding and then sprinkle the crushed Oreos around them. (Or add the Oreos first. It doesn't matter.)
Enjoy!

*Or make some pudding and put it in a bowl.
