DIY Piping Bags

In my blog post for Apple Slice "Donuts", I said to use a piping bag or plastic baggy to pipe Nutella and/or peanut butter onto the apple slices.

But, how exactly can I make a DIY piping bag? You may be wondering.

Well, don't ya go about wonderin' no more, 'cause this week I want to show you how to make a DIY piping bag that's easy, cheap and quick!

DIY PIPING BAGS

SUPPLIES:
  • Plastic sandwich baggy OR Easter "carrot-shaped" plastic baggy
  • Frosting (or Nutella, peanut butter, etc.)
  • Scissors

DIRECTIONS:
  1. Set an open plastic baggy into a small jar or cup (with a wide mouth) and fold the open end of the baggy around it (see picture below).
  2. Put some frosting into the baggy.
  3. Unfold the plastic baggy, lift it out of the jar/cup and push the frosting down to a corner/point.
  4. Twist the top of the baggy tight and then snip a little bit off of the corner to make a hole.
  5. Use the baggy just like a piping bag.
Note: If you want to use a piping-bag insert, simply put the piece into a corner of a baggy, fill with frosting and snip the corner carefully (so the piece fits, but does not fall out).
