Small Crochet Pumpkin

When I found a cute pumpkin pattern on the blog Repeat Crafter Me, I decided to give it a try.

But I didn't follow the directions well (somewhat on purpose, somewhat not - oops!) and by the time I was done, I had a unique little pumpkin all my own.

Isn't he cute?

SMALL CROCHET PUMPKIN

SUPPLIES:
  • Orange yarn
  • Small amount of brown or green yarn (for stem)
  • Small amount of green yarn (for leaf)
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors
  • Polyester fiber fill
ABBREVIATIONS:
  • ch: chain
  • sc: single crochet
  • st: stitch
PUMPKIN PATTERN:
Ch 11
Row 2: sc in 2nd ch, 9 sc.
Rows 3 - end: *ch 1, turn, sc in same st, 9 sc*, repeat from * to * until length is twice the width (about 4 in.)
Join the 1st and last rows together (using a yarn needle or hook)
*on one end of "tube", pull yarn through front loops only (see note below) until you come back around, pull tight, stitch together remaining opening*, stuff with polyester fiber fill, repeat from * to * on other side
Notes:
  • For stitching the yarn around the opening, I tried to grab two front loops at a time, as per Repeat Crafter Me's pattern. But pulling through just one loop at a time should work as well!
  • Thanks so much to Repeat Crafter Me's for her pattern, which I adapted for the one above. :) Go check it out!
STEM:
I used the stem from Repeat Crafter Me's post, the one that inspired this one!

LEAF:
My pattern: Small Crochet Leaf

ASSEMBLY:
Sew the stem and leaf on the top of the pumpkin using a yarn needle. Weave in ends.
